The Basketball League (TBL) is excited to welcome Timothy Porter as the new Team Market Owner (TMO) of the ADS Sentinel, bringing a powerful blend of innovation, leadership, and heart to the court. Porter isn’t just stepping into a new role — he’s bringing with him a lifetime of work dedicated to empowering communities, creating opportunities, and building spaces where people can grow together.

A Mission Born from Compassion and Action

Tim Porter’s journey as a community leader began in 2011, driven by tragedy and purpose. After a heartbreaking bullying incident, he channeled his energy into building Stop Bullies, a mobile app that allows students and educators to report bullying in real time. This initiative, supported by the UTSA Small Business Development Center and Procurement Technical Assistance Center, was more than an app — it was a lifeline for students and a launchpad for Porter’s deeper involvement in K-12 education and community advocacy.

That same drive fueled the creation of Appddiction Studio, Porter’s award-winning tech company dedicated to developing solutions that support schools, families, and communities. His leadership and vision quickly earned national attention, and in 2020, he was named U.S. Small Business Person of the Year by the Small Business Administration and Texas Governor Greg Abbott. Beyond his entrepreneurial success, Porter serves on the board of the San Antonio Health Collaborative, where he continues to champion initiatives that improve community well-being.

Building Community Through Sports

Porter’s belief in creating spaces that bring people together is now taking physical form. Most recently, he launched plans for the ADS Sports Complex in Converse, Texas, a seven-acre facility designed to serve as a vibrant community hub. Scheduled to break ground in March 2025, the complex will include courts and fields for basketball, volleyball, pickleball, and lacrosse, along with a welcoming café for families and local organizations to gather.

It’s more than a sports facility — it’s the embodiment of Porter’s vision to blend sports, business, and community spirit into something greater than the sum of its parts.

Now, as the new TMO of the ADS Sentinel, Porter is bringing that same energy and purpose to the world of professional basketball. He envisions the Sentinel as more than just a team — it’s a platform to inspire young athletes, unite families, and create lasting change throughout the community.

“The ADS Sentinel is more than a basketball team — it’s a movement,” Porter shares. “It’s about giving athletes the chance to shine, creating places for families to connect, and building programs that make a real difference. Basketball is the heartbeat, but community is the soul.”
